| Hello all, Sorry I haven’t posted in a while…(excuse: ) I’ve been doing some studies over winter that have been gobbling-up a lot of time. Sorry. Next week starts spring semester for me. I’ll be taking some interesting classes, and I will probably be quite busy. This past weekend, our Aunt and two cousins came out from North Carolina to visit.

My two cousins and my sister.
They were so much fun! We went to Knott’s Berry Farm with them and had a blast. And just to let you all know, if you are 6’2” and have really long legs, it’s hard to ride most of the rides in “Camp Snoopy”. I thought about making a T-shirt that says, “I survived Camp Snoopy”.
My brother, and two cousins.
Yes, my mouth is mostly healed from the wisdom-teeth-pulling-operation… the swelling has gone down! Explorers is going well, we’ve enlarged our roster quite a bit this year, and it looks like we’ve got a really good group of Explorers coming on. So far, they’ve been really good learners and had a pretty good attitude. Last night was our first meeting with them all, and for 2 hours we did drill in really cold weather with strong wind-chill. Of course because one person didn’t have a coat on, all of us had to take ours off… so we drilled in short-sleeves. BRRRRR!!! There are a few of us with Negative-10% body fat too… we were just a little chilly. :D whew!

| . Ok, well, here's what's "up with my teeth"! On Wednesday I got all four wisdom teeth pulled! I really liked the guy who did the surgery, he was a lot of fun, along with his sidekick who was pretty neat.
Here was my biggest concearn. I eat... a lot. I knew though that after I had the surgery, I'd only be allowed to eat yogurt, pudding, etc. In preparation for the operation, I took a whole week and ate as much as possible with minimal exersice, etc. (wanting to see if I could gain weight.) Well, at every meal I practically ate myself sick. At the end of the week, I got on the scale, and I'd lost 4 pounds. GGGRRRRRRRR!!!! I can't gain weight for the life of me. :)
Hope you all are doing well!

| Ok all, believe it or not, I am POSTING!!! I figured it’s been almost two-thirds of a year that I haven’t posted anything, which probably warrants a little update. So, with no further ado, here’s what’s been up the last few years--I mean, months. I’ve had trouble trying to recollect a lot of what has happened over the last few months, so instead of attempting a chronological sequence of occurrences, I’m just going to post some good memories and things that I remember doing this year! :D So here are some highlights from this year…
At June in…June! This past June, we went camping at June Lake with our friends the LeMasters. We had tons of fun and a great time of being together on hikes, canoe trips, fishing, and sitting around the campfire. The fishing was great, and we brought in a bountiful load of 35 trout between five of us in only about three and a half-hours! We hiked up a nice trail that took us into a snowed in trough that had a small lake in it, which was filled by ice runoff. We packed an inflatable raft along so we launched that once we got up to the lake. In the middle of the lake, where the deepest point was probably only 20 feet deep, we could clearly see the bottom of the lake because of how crystal clear the water was. It was really neat! Also, there was a plentiful supply of “Brookie Trout” up there. One afternoon we decided to head down to the “beach” area of June Lake. Just dipping my toe in the water, told me that swimming was going to be a last resort… it was COLD! We started out by having groups of us row around the lake in canoes and rafts… it was a lot of fun, and very relaxing, but of course Nathan and I needed something more radical. With high winds that would sweep across the lake, we thought of making a tandem canoe type affair from which we could hoist a sail (read: tarp) and race along the lake. Well, the tandem canoe was a smashing success, but unfortunately the wind died just when we got out on the lake. Using our tandem canoe for new things though, we took the ever-paranoid dogs for a heart-thumbing ride on the lake, and took the dads for a Italian style hop around the lake with Nathan and I standing up and rowing the canoes as the dads went along for the ride. The “surf” on the lake was pretty sizable for a small lake, so every time we’d haul out of a trough, the next swell would splash up in the canoe. Later that day, Josh, Nicole and I shared one of the most memorable of all times, rowing at an easy rate from the north shore all the way to the south, and back. There are SO many hilarious memories that we shared during that time… it was a great time.
Hemet CIAgent This year, Nicole and I were greatly privileged to be able to help out with the Children’s Institute program that corresponds with the Basic, and Advanced Seminars (for adults) through IBLP. We had a great week, and an outstanding staff who loved what they were doing. We had a hilariously fun time, and amidst some hardships that we encountered over the week, we remained very energetic and dedicated to the cause. There were a lot of great memories made over the course of the week, with lots of fun and embarrassing times shared with one another. Of course the practical jokes abounded by night and a great time was…eventually, had by all! http://hemetci.lemastersystems.com
Fire Explorer Muster All of our local Fire Explorer posts have an annual “Muster”… a series of competitions in which all the post are competing against each other. This year we had a “Bucket Brigade” (competing for speed and efficiency in passing off buckets of water), “Make ‘n Break” (connecting sticks of hose and getting down to the nozzle to knock down a cone with a water stream), and “Water-ball” (pushing a ball back and forth on a rope, using the strength of a water stream). “Hesperia-B” team took 3rd place in the make and break which was a LOT of fun! I was at the hydrant, and everything seemed to move so fast… Those who took 2nd and 1st places were less than one second faster than we were. I had a great time! (Hesperia-B)
Tombstone R’ Bust! This summer we ventured out to a small town in Arizona called Tombstone, AZ. (remember the “O.K. Corral”? this is where it all happened…) My uncle is a Wild West historian, and recently retired and built a house on the outskirts of Tombstone… (resident population <1800) It was neat hearing all about the history of the city from a guy who really knew a lot. Funny thing was, in tombstone, all the locals carry their guns “open” and the one Sherriff they have is really a joke because he’s hardly needed. The Tombstone trip was… well, quite an experience! There was a lot of funny stuff that happened; from picking our way around cactus’ in retreat from a hive of Africanized Honey Bees, to going to a western wedding were the bride never said the vows… wow! It was… a cultural experience!
My…other than normal family… My great family is growing in size and strangeness as usual! :D …yes, we are kind of a… different bunch!
Hacienda Heights CI I had a positively GREAT time at this year’s Hacienda Heights Children’s Institute. It was a great time of getting to be with friends, and meet new people! As usual, Darrell and Abby did a great job of leading the program, along with the help of a few others! The skits were great, and the Annie D. and Jon M-V Parachute song was… unforgettable. :D I really enjoyed working with the team there, and also had a great time with the Gramms, Hubbards and Corduan (not plural) ;)! I was a Sergeant and had two great Corporals and a great team. It was a growing experience for all involved! God really pushed me on the last day, when things REALLLLLY didn’t go according to my pre-decided plans. It really stretched me and let me see God in a new way. Now, here my friends is a.… celebrity. None other than the infamous Gomer Pyle! Also, I don’t know about you… but to me, Abby is someone that… well, it’s hard to describe. Everybody wants to be like her. She’s just so amazing when it comes to just how photogenic she is. She’s just… a natural!
This is one of my favorite pictures of the week. :D Guys…I’m bad at keeping secrets, so I’m majorly spilling a classified secret across the web! Did you know that Darrell’s favorite pastime is karaoke? Here, he’s singing “Those were the days, my friend” by Mary Hopkins. :D
Fire! At about 0400 Hrs. one morning, a fire started in a four story hotel that was under construction. Because of the construction status of the project, the building became “fully involved” (meaning, “the whole thing was on fire”) before crews had even pulled out of their stations. It was a super hot, super bright, and intense fire that rang three alarms (“three alarm fire”) and the whole building was a loss. The cause of the fire is extremely suspicious because of the intensity with which it ignited and burned Right next door, there was a tire shop that became a big worry, seeing that if it ignited, there would be a huge problem… also, to the rear, was another hotel, only separated by an alley. I heard that a guy woke up and being quite disgruntled, said to his wife, “Honey! Why did you turn the heater on?” She replied with that she hadn’t turned the heater on… and soon they discovered that just outside was a HUGE fire. Some responding units said they saw the flame column from more than 15 miles away! It was really amazing…
ALERT Nicole served at the Big Sandy Training Center for 8 weeks, and had a great time working with the people there at the ALERT Campus. She learned a lot, and really loved helping the ministry there. Here, we’re in the Airport saying our goodbyes…
Lights, Camera, Action! You need to understand, that when you mix weird people with… more weird people, they will do very unusual things. Well, one Sunday after church, some of us kids decided we were going to make a major motion picture… it was… unique. It started off strangly and ended weird, but we had fun making it. We called it “Missing Treasure”… a story in which two dumb crooks (Nathan T. and Yours T.) stole treasure (polished rocks) from a daycare. Sounds like a whopper huh? Well, the finished product was a hard-core “B-flick” but was pretty funny. (see end of post for a short clip from the film)
Explorers I’ve been doing rideouts locally with the Fire Dept. and having a great time! We’ve run a lot of funny calls, strange calls, easy calls, hard calls, and everything in between. No two calls are alike, and definitely no two days! It’s really challenging and fun and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed doing it! Here are two shots that my family snapped while seeing me respond on incidents locally.
Recently a Mercy Air, Air Ambulance crashed in heavy fog and high winds while returning from an incident. I attended the funeral, which was a really emotional one, and was amazed by one part of it. In the last few months, the Paramedic on the helicopter was saved and began attending church. On a Saturday night he turned in a prayer request paper to the pastoral staff, and less than 24 hours later, was killed in the crash. The pastor said, “You hear us pastors always say, if so’n’so were hear today, they would tell you to trust in God, because he’s real! But today, I don’t have to do that… because right here in my hand, is a prayer request that was turned in by Jerry less than 24 hours before he died.” Reading it, he said, “My prayer is that all the EMS personnel in the High Desert, would learn to see God in everything”. It was really powerful, seeing that in attendance, were about 1100 EMS personnel who couldn’t have helped but be awakened with those words!

In closing... Abby, ever worried about public image (JK) asked me to post a picture of her in a more civil and "normal" pose... :D Aside from the fact that the previous picture of her is fairly normal, I'm posting this picture of her for those of you who don't know her well enough to make sense of anything I've said thusfar! :D

| Well folks, it’s only been, what a few months? :D SOOOOORRY!!
You all very much so deserve an update, so pardon the abbreviated length, and…enjoy! :D
Where do I
start? So much has happened… I’ll just give a little snippet about a
few things that are more “major”, and I’ll let you mentally fill in the
rest as “life”! :D
~Our family re-tiled/linoleumed/carpeted our house, and got new appliances! That all took quite a bit of work!
~I passed my first CLEP test… whew! (History I)
~Currently I’m re-roofing three houses! :D
~Probably one of the biggest “new
things”, is that I’m now a SBC Fire Explorer!! I’m really learning
tons, and liking it a lot! I went on a ride-out the other day, and was
assigned to the box. My basic job was to take HR, Pulse, BP, SP02, and
dial the IV whenever the medic needed me to… It was a lot of fun!
We had four transports and an airlift… so yeah, it was a pretty neat shift!
(To answer your questions Sarah, yeah, you’d have to be a paramedic to
be a firefighter, but they make some nice steps for those trying to get
to the ‘firefighter’ status. As a PCF (paid-call), you can get your
EMT, then become an LT (ambulance driver) while you do your ‘medic
school’ (as we call it). does that take care of it?)
I
know that wasn’t a very informative update, and… I’m sorry… quite
frankly, I don’t really do Xanga much anymore! (Obviously) :D
To those of you who are on CDF, I’m still out here, somewhere… don’t give up on me, I’ll get back on there someday! :D
~GOODBYE! GOD BLESS!!~
(BTW: Still pray that I can go to sac… don’t know)

Hello everybody!
Yes, I am alive… and well (surprise surprise!)
Sorry I haven’t updated in SO long! I’ve thought of canceling my xanga because most everybody aside from my closest friends, are easily accessible through the CDF. However, I think I’ll keep it, because “ya never know”… I may just wish I had it later! :D
Those of you who’ve had birthdays recently, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
I’ll try to post some more in the near future… ideas?
Thanks for your adamant support ;) and God Bless! | | |
